Club Matters

Dear Team and Supporters,

Our club Chairman Graham Frost is stepping down after a long and distinguished presence at the heart of AFC Waverton. He is still maintaining his links by managing the U7 team but we have been asked to circulate the attached note to all our parents

All, next Monday we intend to organise a club meeting (Waverton Institute is now booked for 7pm on Monday 24th )

to discuss the future management of the Club.

As you know Graham has indicated for some time that he want to stand down so we really need to respect his wishes and find a suitable replacement for chairman.

There are many other roles in the club that require consideration as they in the main filled by individuals who's boys have left the football club and it is unlikely that they will want to continue indefinitely.

Ideally we need Parents who kids are in the younger age groups where there is longevity in any solution rather than rely in the older age groups. I dont think its practical for a manager to be Chair as well.

The key agenda points are

  • Chairman replacement
  • Ensure that all key roles are covered for next season
  • What are the short term challenges over the Summer in preparation for next season.

I think its important that every age group attends. Its imperative that we all pitch in here and contribute to the solution as all our age groups benefit from a successfully run club.

We really need a good attendance next week and ideally would hope to see as many Parents there as possible.

If you are able to support the club in any way no matter how small please come along.

Simon Jason and Robin

Thanks

Dear Team and Supporters,

We just want to express our thanks to everyone who helped out last Saturday- in particular the Stratton family and Wendy on the BBQ.  It was a great way to end the season.

Our team has been asked to open the new 4g pitch at Christleton High School on the 4th July.

This is the message from the organiser. Can you let us know if you are unable to attend. We will need to go in full kit.

Finally- can you get the registration forms and photos back to Simon as soon as possible. Lilac Cottage , Fir Tree Lane, Littleton, Chester CH3 7DN. Please have the forms to Simon by 30th June (with photos and cheques) If any of you have decided not to register with the team for next season can you let one of us know as soon as possible.

Hi all,

As I’m sure you are all aware, the opening of new artificial football pitch facility is not far away. We are planning to hold an opening ceremony on Thursday July 4th. We have lots planned for the event, notably six Liverpool Football Club coaches coming to deliver various sessions to our invited children.

As our partner clubs, we wish to invite you to bring a team along to represent your football club in taking part in the opening ceremony of the event. As well as our four partner clubs, there will  be representatives from the local female football community as well as our Primary School cluster. In doing so, we join all active members of our local football community together for the event.

We have detailed the invited age groups below, the children will take part in six sessions delivered by Liverpool Football Club coaches during the ceremony.

Ideally, we would ask Chester Nomads to provide your current Under 15s squad, Vicars Cross to provide your Under 14 squad and AFC Waverton to bring your under 13 squad. We would ask for a 3.45-4pm arrival and for players to arrive changed in their club kits.

If the arrangements above are acceptable, I ask that you please let me know as soon as possible.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Arrangements for tomorrow

Dear Team and Supporters,

We’ve had a great response from you all for our end of season match and BBQ to be held from 3pm at Barrow on Saturday. We estimate over 50 attending....please turn out in force!

The weather looks a little iffy but I am assured that we can use the pavilion should the heavens open.  Jim Stratton has kindly agreed to lead on the BBQ front and we will be asking for a donation of £5 per person. This will include burgers, sausages, rolls and sauces.  Please bring your own  salads, drinks and desserts.

The game will kick off at 3pm. Can the “Rest of the World” team come with blue tops and shin pads (essential!)

Any help on the day would be greatly appreciated – we will be on site from 2pm

Here’s hoping for a sunny day

Regards

Simon, Jason and Robin

BBQ 15th June

Dear Team and Supporters,

Many thanks to those who have confirmed attendance at our end of season game and BBQ.   We plan to hold the game from 2pm and use the Barrow playing field pavillion for the BBQ. It would really help us if you could let us have final numbers by Sunday evening so I can have a chat to Jim about the BBQ. We will be running the BBQ at cost but will need to have a good handle on numbers so we can ensure that we don’t have wasted food.

If anyone has a small gazebo they could bring along that would be helpful. Volunteers to help with logistics on the day would also be very much appreciated. Bring your own seats, picnic rugs, drinks, cups, plates etc.

Believe it or not we also need to begin registration for next season. We will have forms available next Saturday.

Thanks

Simon
