Dear Team and Supporters,
On Sunday we will play Groves Athletic in the Chester & District Cup Semi-Final. KO at the earlier than usual time of 11.30am. The game is at Bishops High School (please ask if you need directions)
We need to be there for 11am at the very latest and we must all wear full kit including winter training tops if you have them. Please make sure you bring drinks and something for a half time snack. Boots must be polished and early nights had on Saturday. Our nutritionist has advised you to scoff a good breakfast- bananas, porridge and toast no later than 9am Sunday morning.
We then need to be awake and ready to perform to our full potential as soon as the whistle blows (for KO not the end of the game!) We will be representing AFC Waverton on the day so be must stay together, warm up properly and remain focused. We should also remember that we have won the league and we should fear no teams put in front of us.
It has been a really tough decision for the Management Team to rest some of you this week (we are only allowed to take 16 players) – but we do hope that everyone will turn out to support the team on the day if you can. If we find it hard to substitute as regularly as usual we apologise for this in advance....sometimes it can be very hard to break up the rhythm of the team when games are close. This is not a reflection on anyone’s ability, commitment to the team or desire to play their full part....it is simply a judgement call on the day. There will be some great opportunities to enjoy days like this for everyone going forward.
