Training this saturday

Dear Team and Supporters,

This coming Saturday will see the Jets training (closed to the press) at Christleton Primary School. Be there for 11am...Santa hats optional. Don’t worry if you need to visit relatives, go Christmas shopping or feed the reindeer....if you fail to turn up 50 press ups will be demanded prior to our opening Cup match in January. We are talking parents here not team members.

Mince pies anyone?

Festive greetings

JFC Boughton v Waverton Jets

Team and supporters,

Last week they ran scared....they summoned heavy rain to ruin the pitch so they wouldn’t have to play us. This week will be different....but we will need to be at our Deva Stadium best to succeed.....we’ve done it before and can do it again.

We shall need to get warming up at 10.30am for an 11am Kick Off. Bishops High School.

Wellington boots may be required....but make sure they are clean too.

See you there

JFC Boughton v Waverton Jets

Team and Supporters,

This is the last game of the qualifying rounds for the Cup/Shield competition. By the Boss’s calculations we have made it into the Cup competition this year with a game to spare. We will definitely need to develop and improve if we are to make a mark in the competition this season. We won’t have any more league games after this one for a while but still plan to meet for training and possibly a friendly game or two. Watch this space.

On Saturday we are away at JFC Boughton (Bishops High School) KO is 11.30am so please be there for 11am warm ups.

Sparkling boots, winter tops and warm smiles.

Jets V Centurions

Team and Supporters,

You will be pleased to hear that there will be no more quotations this week....the last one did the trick and I plan to keep all of my other profound insights to myself for the time being.

....great turn out for military training which appeared to be thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our marksmen have now honed their skills by hitting that poor lad Mike right between the eyes and up his bum with a yellow paint ball....great shots....lets now turn our attention this Saturday to the Centurion’s goal.

Home this week....10.30am warm ups for 11am Kick Off.

Polish those boots you ‘oribble little rabble

PS Take care tonight with those fireworks!

Chester Nomads V Waverton Jets U10

Team and Supporters,

Right then....

“Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble”

We’re not getting desperate just yet...but.....The Boss and I have consulted with our friendly local witch and they have kindly given us a “winning potion”....problem is ...no win and we all turn into frogs. You have been warned.

And finally.....

"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm." None other than Winston Churchill said that. The Jets have never been short on courage or enthusiasm.....let’s get stuck in.

We are playing Chester Nomads this coming Saturday. Kick off 11.30am at Boughton Hall Cricket ground. Please be there for 11am warm ups.

Clean boots and no broomsticks.

Upton Pathers V The Jets

Team and Supporters,

“There are no failures - just experiences and your reactions to them.” Discuss

The Boss is asking for a 5000 word essay on the above quotation.....either that or turn up at 10.15 for a 10.45am Kick Off this Saturday. We are playing away...but it’s not far. Just behind the Vets on Hare Lane (opposite the rugby club)

Just a reminder could you please check the fixture list in advance and let us know if you are unlikely to be able to play. We need to give 2 weeks notice if we have to request a postponement now that we are in the league.

Castrol Rangers V AFC Waverton Jets U10

Team and Supporters,

Last weekend is now confined to the annals of history....Saturday is another day. This coming weekend we play Castrol Rangers again but this time away at the Castrol Sports Centre in Ellesmere Port. If you don’t know where this is please ring Carl or I.  We plan to meet at 10.30am for an 11am Kick Off. Make sure you come in full kit with winter training tops if you have them.

Our colleague Fabio has just left Carl a text to say he might wander down to Castrol on Saturday......he still has a few seats to fill for the plane to South Africa.

Dear Team and Supporters,

A big game waits us this coming Saturday...a top of the table clash between The Jets and Boughton.

As the Boss said last week...”we’ve got to want it more”.....

The whole team needs to turn up and be ready for an all action encounter. Early nights and keep off the chocolate.

We shall be at home and the game kicks off at 11. Please be there for 10.30am warm ups.

Centurions V AFC Waverton Jets

Team and Supporters,

There’s been plenty of talk in the playground this week....now it is time to let our feet do the talking.....

Centurions V Jets is a much awaited fixture for  the Christleton Primary School contingent in the squad. Some good friends play for the newly formed Centurions so it has added an exciting dimension to proceedings!...

The game is to be played at St Werberghs, Lightfoot St, Hoole.  Not entirely sure where the pitch is but I am assuming we meet at St Werberghs Primary School car park. Ring Carl or I if you struggle to find it. Kick-off is at 10.30am so please meet for warm ups at 10am.

Can you remember your cheques for subs  and please let Carl or Jan know if you can make it to Boot Camp on the 1st Nov. We need to book this very soon. It is in Meols on the Wirral.

Cleanest boot prize awaits those who try.

...Jets join the army

Dear Team and Supporters,

BOOT CAMP- this is compulsory

It has come to the attention of the Coaching Staff that some of our team are puffing and panting a bit too much in the second half of games.  We have put our heads together over this one and decided that we need to conscript the entire team into the British Army.

This may sound like a radical idea and at bit over the top....but this is The Jets we are talking about. We have certain standards to uphold....something our men and women in the British Army have been doing since before Rourkes Drift (a siege that was nearly as long as last weeks defensive display against Upton Panthers)

To this end we have signed up your boys (and girl) on Sunday 1st November 2pm to 4pm. Details will follow in code.

There is a cost involved (£15 per recruit)....but what price can you pay for loyalty, comradeship and less wheezing early doors?

Tense, thrilling, seat of the pants stuff last week....great result all things considered....with a little bit of controversy at the end. That’s football.

This weekend sees us taking on Chester Nomads at home again. Kick off 11am but please be there for 10.30am warm ups.

See you there- clean boots and teeth.

AFC Waverton Jets U10 v Upton Panthers

Team and Supporters,

Great result last week. I had a full report from Christy. This week we will face another stern test with some of our squad away on international duty. I have just received a 3 match touchline ban from the FA for eating too much cake last weekend.

Kicks off at Christleton Primary at 9.30am...please be there at 9am.

Thanks

AFC Waverton Jets V Castrol Rangers

Team and Supporters,

2009-10 Season

Our first test of the new season is at home against Castrol Rangers on the 12th September. We need to be “at the races” from the whistle......no daydreaming of wet summers past......hard but fair in the tackle, on our toes and as graceful as ballet dancers (did you know Wayne Rooney once danced with the Ballet Rambert? ...check  out his website www.shrekcandance.com), talking and encouraging each other as we always do.

The sun has been ordered too. We have a couple of new additions to the squad and judging by last Mondays training session....they will make their mark in the season ahead.

Have a great time....remember this is only the start so pace yourselves! (advice for supporters only)

Kick off is scheduled for 10.30am so we will need to be warming up from 10....full kit n hoodies

Carl is likely to text you if there are any changes to plan.

I can’t be there this Saturday but will receive minute by minute updates by satellite phone. The Boss will be checking the quality of boot cleaning on my behalf.

Sorry...it was Wayne Sleep wasn’t it!?

Good luck

To quote the Boss- “that was good .....the long hard road to make history starts from now”

Most of you will have seen Andrew Thompson’s epic film (nominated in the junior football short film category at Canne) The Boss is likely to go on our behalf to pick up the award....all expenses paid...hope this is ok? (...Steve and I need to be there to write his speech) Thanks Andrew, a  very special way to remember a brilliant season.

FINAL!!!

Preparation for Sundays Cup Final will start on Saturday  with a light training session at 10.30 at usual venue.

On Sunday we all need to meet outside Deva Stadium at 08.15 where we will hopefully be able to gain access to ground to do 1/2 hour warm up before KO at 9.00.

Can you please make sure boys have full kit,  trainers, boots, shin pads and  Hannah's Hoodies as training tops please.

Their is no restriction on ticket allocations, their will be a small entry fee for all supporters, programmes will also be available on the day.

Important

Unfortunately the league are adamant that we can only play 10 on the day and with a 12 man squad  i will undoubtedly have a couple of disappointed individuals. I do not know if i have to name the 10 in advance or whether i can just use any 10 out of the 12 as the game progresses.
I have been aware of the rule since the start and have until now been able to work a system (agreed with other team managers) that has allowed us to involve all players in different proportions. This system has resulted in recent successes which i believe has made our Saturday's an enjoyable experience.
I would like to think that all 12 consider themselves as valued members of a TEAM and that in some shape or form have all contributed to the success we have achieved and enjoyed to date.  As it stands i do not intend on telling the  team that this rule exists and will be encouraging all of them  to participate in the occasion as a squad member -  regardless of how long they play for or even whether they play at all.
It is our job as coaches and parents to make this an enjoyable occasion for all and recognise that it has taken 19 games to get to this one of which everyone has played a part in.

Finally

Can i remind you all that after winning the final on Sunday, Melanie Barker & family have kindly offered to host a BBQ to celebrate the end of a great season.

Start Time  - 12,00

Please check email sent last week for contribution list.

See you all Saturday.

Regards

Shield Semi-Final

Dear Team and Supporters,

This coming Saturday (9th May) will see the culmination of our hard work for the season. It is the Chester & District Under 9 Shield Semi-Final. If we get through this tie then we will be playing on the hallowed turf of the Deva Stadium- the Chester City home ground.

The semi’s will be played at Westminster Park and will kick off at 10am. We would like you all to meet us at 9.15am in full kit (including winter training tops)

Bring both boots and trainers. Make sure you get a good night’s rest and come prepared for a great match.

Any problems the let the Boss, Steve or I know as soon as possible.

Supporters are requested to be loud.

AFC Waverton V Castrol Athletic

Dear Team and Supporters,

....ok.....let’s not get too carried away....one championship doesn’t make a great team.........we need at least five to be called a truly GREAT team......but we will allow you all a few days of celebration. A few sherbet lemons and a maybe a can of coke.....

Only joking of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a fantastic season ...you (and supporters too) deserve a massive pat on the back for working so hard for each other over the year....remember those muddy and teeth chattering days in February!?  All worth it now.

Whilst we have topped the league...we still have some unfinished business. The Shield Semi-Final on Saturday 9th May (Wessy Park) and also the Castrol game this coming Saturday 2nd.

We are without one or two players this weekend but it’s a home tie. I think the Kick off will be 11am so we will meet at 10.30am.

Keep an eye on emails as I may have got to kick off time wrong.

Can’t be there this weekend...but i know you will still be up for beating Castrol.

AFC Waverton Jets V Newton Athletic

Dear Team and Supporters,

What a fantastic result last Saturday...!! You fully deserved to win against well organised and strong opposition.

This leaves it nicely set up for the last two league games of the season. The first of these will be at home (Christleton Primary) against Newton Athletic this coming Wednesday. We kick off at 6.30pm so please try to be there for 6pm. Carl may not make it back in time from work and I am away overnight. Steve will take the reins for this fixture. Good luck and be positive.

Some other news....the Shield Semi-Finals will not now be played on the 2nd May. This fixture has been pushed back to the 9th May. Please let Cark know availability.

Keep your eyes on the ball.....

AFC Waverton Rockets V AFC Waverton Jets

Dear Team and Supporters,

AFC Waverton Rockets V AFC Waverton Jets

Venue: Waverton Kick Off : 11am Be there for 10.30am warm up

Please note the car park may be busy as there is a girls football open day running at the same time.

We winkled out a solid 2 nil win last week on a bumpy pitch....we never really got going..... so this coming Saturday could be our day.  The pitch will again be hard (so trainers should be at the ready) Our tackles need to be even harder (but fair of course!)

Our last encounter with the Rockets was much closer than the score line suggested. We pushed everyone forward and they scored their fourth goal against the run of play. So let’s be really positive from the start and not let past experience dictate how we should play on Saturday. We have the players to win matches...and the players to shut up shop when required......we just need to put both of those sides of our game together in one match!

Come in full kit, drinks, chocolate...and bring two cup final tickets...one for me and one for Carl.

Upton Pumas V AFC Waverton Jets

Dear Team and Supporters,

This coming FA cup semi-final Saturday sees our team travel away to face JFC Upton Pumas. As the boss said....we need three wins out of three to ensure the championship is secured. So this means being at the races from the kick off. Easter eggs are a distant memory.....but their after effects are well known.....Carl, Steve and I know this only too well. Midweek fitness programmes have been arranged...not for you guys but for your coaches.

So please be there at 10.15am for warm ups and team tactics. Kick off will be 10.45am prompt.

Venue is the new football field behind the vets on Tarvin Road (adjacent to Hare Lane/Rugby Club) Parking behind the main stand at the Rugby Club.

Please ensure you bring both boots and trainers because at this time of year the pitches may be a little hard.

Don’t forget to bring a drink, the leftover easter eggs and smiles.

AFC Waverton Jets V JFC Upton Pumas

Dear Team and Supporters,

This coming Saturday sees our high fliers up against Upton Pumas at home. The boss won’t be there but his able team of assistants will be....so no slacking.

The Pumas recently went down only 1:0 to Castrol so they are no pushovers. We will need to be out of the starting blocks and raring to go!

We plan to kick off at 10.30am. Please be there for 10am at the latest. Upton have a very large squad and have asked if we might be willing to play a second match after the league encounter. Am not sure if this will be possible as our players do tend to be a bit tired after their performances....plus the Liverpool V Man U game is on soon after!!

I plan to try to get there around 9.45am to put the nets up ... any assistance would be appreciated.

Malpas V Jets

Dear Team and Supporters,

I made a school boy error in my last note to you all…

It should obviously have read “Spa” treatment….and not “Spar” treatment……

The former being aimed at health and relaxation the other being a cheap convenience store in Boughton Heath. However….most partners were hoping I actually meant Spar after all.

Happy to clarify this glaring error. Club funds don’t go far enough to offer full spa treatment this Saturday but I am sure all husbands and boyfriends (HABS) would be very happy if you all decided to try out the facilities and left us to it in the rain.

Dear Team and Supporters,

Another tight victory last Saturday saw us reinforce our lead at the top of the league. Next Saturday sees yet another top of the table clash away to Malpas.

Kick off will be at the earlier time of 9.30am and we are away at Carden Park. Please park your Bentleys carefully...and don’t try to tailgate through the entrance as only one car at a time can pass through the barrier. If you need directions please speak to one of the WAGS who regularly use the spar treatments.

Please try to be there for 9am warm ups.

Dear Team and Supporters,

Happily I am now back online so can let you have my thoughts on tomorrow....

Unfortunately I won’t be able to be there as I am helping out with the U14 Ladies team in Waverton.

The Boss will be expected big things.....let’s not disappoint him!

We need to bounce back after Castrol and I know we have the capability to do it. We have played this team before and done well....we can’t be complacent but we should be confident and positive.
