Hi all

Sorry it’s us again….

Firstly can those of you holding the two trophies we have won this season make sure you keep good care of them for a few weeks and then share them around the team. We will need to get them back to get them engraved at some point over the summer.

Secondly this is an early heads up about registering for September 2014. The attached is the Chester & District League registration document. You need to  include two passport photos and also a copy of your birth certificate or passport- we don’t want the originals! The club registration forms will follow along with an indication of the fees for the year. James Convery- we are hoping we can reuse your original registration documents…we will keep you posted. All registration documents will need to be with Simon by the end of June.

If you are not sure you will be registering with us for next season could you let one of us know as soon as possible please.

Dear Team and Supporters

Many thanks for all of your fantastic support over the past season and for yesterday. The team did really well, rode their luck a bit at times…but thoroughly deserved their victory. You may be relieved to know we aren’t expected to play our final fixture of the season against Malpas (again) on the 29^th May. Some of the squad are on their way south to play in the England Schools Cup Final at the Madjeski Stadium tomorrow….and next weekend are representing England Schools FA in a home international tournament against Wales, Scotland and Ireland. It will be a week to remember for all of them!...and it’s been a season to remember for all of us.

We have had a good response to our call for a bit more help. John Fotheringham has kindly agreed to be our fixture secretary next season (possibly via Germany!) and David MacKenzie has agreed to assist with coaching and match day team management. I think a few of the mums are looking at the social secretary role jointly…but judging by yesterday’s discussion this may mean more mum’s nights outs!

Anyway this is a great start and is much appreciated…keep the offers coming if you can. We have ordered the extra trophies (including one that was dropped 5 minutes after it was awarded!) so we will be in touch about these.

Registration for next season ends on the 31^st July so don’t panic if we get in touch before then…we won’t be talking training or matches just registration for the 2014/15 season. Pre-season training will start in mid-August and involve lots of running. Please can you make sure that you keep fit, go to the gym, eat healthily, ride your bikes…and that’s just a message to our supporters!

The Final

Dear Team and Supporters

We have been informed that on Sunday the Chester Half Marathon takes place at the same time as the Cup Final. Please be aware that some roads will be closed for this so detours and delays are likely.

Finally….our last scheduled game is now on the 29^th May (not 27^th May as previously posted) Blacon will have played their last game before this so if they win our final fixture may not be required. We will keep you informed.

Training

Dear Team and Supporters,

Training will on Wednesday at 7-8pm Waverton village hall pitches. Our block booking at Christleton High has now ended. Please come prepared with studded boots and drinks.

As previously posted our Chester & District Cup Final against Malpas will KO at 13.55pm Swansway Stadium. Please be there in full kit by 1pm. If all of our supporters can sit together please try to do so as you can make more noise that way! After the game we shall be heading to the Ring O Bells for a drink….and celebration.

The league rules state we can only have 16 outfield players registered for the game. However we want everyone to come along in kits. This will mean one or two people may not get on the pitch on Sunday. We will make sure that those who didn’t get as much of a chance in our last final get more opportunity this time.

Really great effort last night and a fantastic result against a tough team. The first piece of silverware is in the locker…now on to the next.

This Sundays league game is away at Groves Sports Club (the old Castrol Sports Club) off Whitby Road in Ellesmere Port (close to Whitby High School) KO 2pm. Please be there for 1.30pm.

Groves Rangers V AFC Waverton Jets

Final fixture date

Dear Team and Supporters,

We have now been informed that our re-arranged game (that should have been played last Tuesday) V Malpas has been rescheduled to 27^th May. If Blacon get a result against Vicars Cross on the 13^th May then our final game will not need to be played. Currently though, if we win our last two games and Blacon are beaten on the 13^th May by Vicars Cross- we win the league….not because of goal difference but because AFC Waverton comes before Blacon in the alphabet….!! No we didn’t make this up!...

Johnson Trophy Final

Dear Team and Supporters,

Our first trophy final of the season will take place this Thursday (8^th May) v Vicars Cross. The game will be played on the far pitches at County Officers KO 6.30pm.

These pitches are on the Mannings Lane side of the complex (not the school side) When you enter the complex turn right and the pitches are tucked away behind a hedge. Make sure you come in full kit, winter training tops and plenty to drink.

We have been informed that we will only be allowed to play a max of 16 players in the match. Currently our squad of 18 makes this a challenge on the day but we would like everyone to attend if they are available. Jason and I do our best to involve everyone in our games and it becomes very hard to juggle things in games like this one. So- we appeal for your understanding and support with this. What we can say is that we have two finals to play in so will do our best to ensure that we give everyone in the squad a chance over these two games. We have also requested 18 medals (hopefully winners!) – however all of these may not be available on the evening (however we have ordered enough for everyone in the squad)

Our next league game is on the 11^th May (Sunday) and will be away at Groves. Please let us know if you are unavailable for this game.

I can now confirm that the final will be played on adjoining pitches

(pitches 4 & 5 – “through the gap”) at Cheshire County Sports Club on

Thursday 8 May 2014.  Kick off time is 6:30.

 

At the end of both games, the cups and 16 individual trophies will be

presented to each team.  The Presidents Cup participants are requested to

wait for a few minutes until the other game ends.

More changes to fixtures

I have just been informed that the Doug Johnson Trophy Final will be played next Thursday at County Officers. I have no KO time but felt it was important to let you all know about this as a matter of priority. I have told the league that we wont be able to play the Tuesday fixture against Malpas.
