Training will be at the usual time of 5.45pm on Thursday (Upton). Can those of you who haven’t paid your training pitch fees let one of us have £20 please. We are still a bit short for this block of 10 weeks.

The match on Sunday will be against JFC Upton away. The details for this game to follow.

This is the squad for Sundays cup game against Westminster Park Lions. We are at home (Waverton Village Hall) KO 2.15pm. We will need to be there for 1.45pm. We may need help with nets etc please.

We still have a number of games to play in the next few months so those players with niggling injuries will be rested to make sure that they are fighting fit for the remainder of the season.

Dear Team and Supporters,

Hope you are all fit and ready for the Cup match this Sunday....v Westminster Park Lions. We finally bring them to our place (Waverton Village Hall for those of you who might have forgotten!) KO 2.15pm. The squad will be announced after training on Thursday but if any of you are not fit or unavailable can you let us know as soon as possible.

Message from the Chairman of our Club

Dear Parent/Guardian

Since its formation approx 14 years ago, AFC Waverton has grown into the largest Junior Football Club in the Chester and District League and one of the largest and most successful in the whole of Cheshire.

 

The Club now has some 27 teams from reception age through to under 18s (including 3 girls teams that compete at under 12s, 14s and 16s) and the past few years have seen plenty of on field success for the Club. Last season alone saw the Club’s various teams win no fewer than 12 pieces of silverware, including an amazing 6 out of 6 cup wins at the end of season Duke of Westminster Cup Finals Day held at Chester City’s Deva Stadium.

 

AFC Waverton is also an FA Charter Standard Club which means the Club has received official recognition that it is a well run and sustainable junior football club, with child protection and safety paramount. The Charter Standard Award also recognises the club’s commitment to coaching, player & coach development, and the raising of standards of behaviour in the game - all of which are big priorities for The FA. The Club also recently won the overall Cheshire West and Chester Council Sports Club of the year award.

 

However, with success come the need for an ever growing team of volunteers to help run and administer the Club and as it enters it’s next stage of development and growth, we are looking for additional input from parents/guardians who are willing to get involved in the exciting future of the Club.

 

With this in mind we will be holding an “Open Evening” on Wednesday 25th January from 7.30 – 8.30pm at Christleton Primary School. At this meeting, we will be sharing a bit more about the Club, it’s history, it’s present status – but more importantly we will be sharing a bit more about the future development of the Club and the opportunities for you to get involved.

 

We would like to encourage as many as possible to come along to find out more about the Club and if you could join us on the 25^th we would be delighted to see you there.

On Thursday we are training at the usual time/place. It will be a full on session aimed at increasing fitness levels and further strengthening our ability to pass and move. This type of football requires you all to be able to run for 60 mins!!
